Schools Rescue Pumpkins

About this event

The annual Arlington Public Schools Pumpkin Rescue runs from Nov. 4 to 6. This highly anticipated event rescues thousands of pounds of pumpkins from the trash. Composting pumpkins rather than throwing them away reduces greenhouse gas emissions and returns nutrients to the soil to help new plants grow. The Pumpkin Rescue is organized by the APS Sustainability Project Manager and Green Teams and supported by our school PTOs and administrators. APS families and staff are welcome to drop off pumpkins and gourds of any size at the participating schools on their collection days. Arlington residents who do not have a child in the Arlington Public Schools can sign up for a pumpkin drop off appointment .
