About this event
David H. Autor will illuminate how new technologies shape the evolution of work, with human expertise at the center of the framework. What matters is not which jobs are “exposed” to technology but how technology changes the expertise required to perform the job. This lens explains how rules-based computing reshaped work over the past four decades and makes novel predictions for the learning-based era of artificial intelligence we have now entered. Where will AI commoditize human labor where it will act as a force multiplier for human expertise, and what would have to be true for the second outcome to prevail?
